ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrive Brisbane - Hervey Bay
On arrival into Brisbane collect your rental car and make your way into the city. Depart Brisbane and head north up through the Sunshine Coast. You’ll travel passed the Glass House Mountains, Beerwah, home to Australian Zoo and Eumundi. It’s easily divert into Caloundra or Noosa for a lunch stop by the beach. Once you arrival into Hervey Bay check into your accommodation and relax.
Day 2: K'gari Day Trip
The gateway to the one of the largest Sand Island’s K’Gari (Fraser Island) is a must do when visiting the region. With the team from Tasman Venture, you’ll transfer to the western side of this World Heritage listed island to begin your explorations. Enjoy the crystal-clear waters of Wathumba Creek with a range of activities including snorkelling with turtles, kayaking, tubing or beach walks, indulge in a buffet lunch before venturing around the island for more stunning scenery and photo stops. Kayaking, swimming, snorkelling, walking, beach activities and other free water sports are on offer for the afternoon before heading back to Hervey Bay Marina
Day 3: Hervey Bay
Today is at leisure; whether you opt to relax around town and explore the local markets, jump on a Jetski and sample the local produce at the many cafes and restaurants around town.
Day 4: Lady Elliot Island Day Trip
Today you are heading to the Southern Great Barrier Reef! Enjoy a gorgeous scenic flight en route to Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort, a true coral cay island located on the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef. You will be greeted upon arrival and given a brief island orientation tour before exploring the island at your leisure. You will be fitted out with snorkel equipment before joining a glass bottom boat/guided snorkel tour to explore the reef where you will come face to face with a large variety of coral and brilliantly coloured fish, and may even encounter turtles, dolphins and our resident manta rays. A buffet lunch is served in the restaurant and you can participate in one of the island’s guided activities after lunch or spend the rest of the afternoon snorkelling or relaxing.
Day 5: Hervey Bay
Free day in Hervey Bay - for cultural experiences head to Maryborough’s Military & Colonial Museum, ANZAC Memorial in Queens Park and the Mural Trail. Explore the heritage-rich streets, fresh produce each Thursday at the Maryborough Markets and the birthplace of Mary Poppins at the Story Bank – all in one day!
We recommend heading across town for dinner. Head to Odyssey Bistro for a curated fine dining experience, or check out Banskia Seafood & Grill.
Day 6: Hervey Bay to Brisbane
Your last day in the Fraser Coast region, your holiday has come to an end. Check out of your accommodation and drive back to Brisbane Airport to drop your rental car before boarding your flight home.
