Day 1: Transfer from South Bali - Fly to Lombok
You'll be picked up at your hotel at South Bali area to be transferred to Denpasar Airport where you will board a flight to Lombok. (Flights are at an additional cost) After a half hour flight, you will arrive in Lombok Airport, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the island’s west coast. You can enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 2: Villages & Sasak Culture Exploration
Begin your tour with a visit to the village of Banyumulek. The Sasak people of Lombok have been skilfully crafting pottery for generations and here you can learn about traditional methods along with their unique style of decoration using rattan. Another feature of the village is the local method of transport known as cidomo: horse-drawn carts which you may see carrying either materials or completed products to and from the village. Your next stop is Sukarare village, known for its textile weaving. Here you will have the opportunity to observe the techniques used to create the intricately patterned songket cloth.
Continue to the southern shores of Lombok where some of the island’s best beaches can be found including Selung Belanak, Kuta and Tanjung Aan. Lunch will be at a local restaurant.
Before returning to your hotel, make a stop at another Sasak village, Sade. Believed to be the oldest village on Lombok, most residents still live in traditional houses constructed from grass thatch, mud and cow dung and visiting a home will provide the opportunity to meet members of the family. Day 3: The Gilies Adventure
Your tour starts with an early morning transfer from your Lombok hotel to the dock for the fast boat to Gili Trawangan, the largest of the three Gili islands. This trio of islands is surrounded by clear waters abounding in tropical fish and colourful corals and perfect for those interested in ocean inhabitants. Explore Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan by wooden boat. You will also have the opportunity to jump into the water and snorkel among the marine life.
You will have ample free time on Gili Trawangan to relax and explore the island. There is no motorised transport which adds to the easy going pace of life here - perhaps rent a bicycle and explore independently for the opportunity to meet the locals and experience a piece of tropical island life. Afterwards, it will be time to return to Lombok by fast boat before the transfer to your hotel. (B, L)
Day 4: Day at Leisure
Enjoy your free day at leisure. (B)
Day 5: Departure to Bali
Today is your last day in Lombok. After having breakfast at the hotel, get ready to be driven to Lombok Airport to board on your flight back to Bali. Upon arrival in Bali, be transferred to your next hotel on the South Beach area. The rest is on your own arrangement. (B)
